Our Story

 ENC farmhouse Furniture was founded in 2020. At the time, we were located in Eastern North Carolina where Matthew was stationed as an Active Duty Marine. Along with his full time career, Matthew's afternoons and weekends are devoted to ENC Farmhouse. Emily helps with smaller projects and does all the marketing, social media exposure, and vendor event preparation.

We run our entire small business out of our home and garage. 

Our business began when Emily wanted to furnish our new home in farmhouse furniture and we noticed that everything for sale was a little pricey. 

Matthew had no past experience in woodworking and everything he has created was self taught through hours of research and watching other seasoned woodworkers on Youtube for inspiration.

 He used the few tools he had to build the first piece of furniture, a barn door for our home. After that first build, Matthew moved on to an end table, a tv stand, and so on! 

He decided to build a few extra pieces of furniture to sell on Facebook Marketplace and see how it went. People began showing interest and placing orders almost instantly.

The business took off from there... 

After selling our first few pieces of furniture, we got repeat customers and lots of referrals for our business. Other people wanted to furnish their houses in our farmhouse furniture, too! 

We made a business page on Facebook called “ENC Farmhouse Furniture” and started advertising and listing items there. From there, we created our website, Instagram page, and Google profile. Our family, friends, and past clients helped us grow the brand and business by sharing social posts and ordering pieces from us. 

Since 2021, our clientele base has grown even more than we could've imagined. We have began making and selling much more than furniture. We now offer ornaments and other wooden keepsakes, car decals, custom decor, and so much more.

2022 was not only our most successful year, it also brought a new addition to the family! Our daughter, Camille, has already become an integral part of our business. Because of her, we have ventured into products geared towards children and their parents. Our business is headed towards a one stop shop for all things farmhouse. If you can dream it, we can build it!

  ENC Farmhouse is a small business and we will always opt to be an affordable furniture option for our customers. We are continuously working towards finding ways to expand our business and offer new products. 

 Since founding our business, we have invested in a Silhouette machine that makes vinyl decals, a CNC engraving machine for large wood projects, and a laser engraver for small personalized wooden pieces. 

These tools allow us to produce professional and quality work, while adding a personal touch to custom pieces. The possibilities are endless!

As we evolve and create brand awareness in our area, our longterm goal is to eventually run ENC Farmhouse full time.

In early 2023, Matthew received PCS orders to Virginia Beach, VA. ENC Farmhouse has moved to Virginia! We recently rebranded by updating our logo and changing the business name to "ENC Farmhouse" for a fresh start. We are looking forward to the future of our business in the Hampton Roads area for the next 3 years.
